Job Description

Affordable Housing Property Operations Specialist

Empower Teams. Strengthening Communities. Shape the Future of Affordable Housing.

Are you a seasoned property management professional ready to expand your impact beyond a single site? Step into a pivotal role where your expertise drives performance, compliance, and operational excellence across a growing portfolio of affordable housing communities. This is more than a job. It is an opportunity to elevate your career, mentor others, and help define the systems that support our residents and teams every day.

At FHRC Management Corporation, we believe that strong operations create strong communities. We’re seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented Affordable Housing Property Operations Specialist to join our corporate team and help guide on-site managers toward success. Your leadership and insight will shape the way we serve our residents, partners, and team members.

What You’ll Do

As our Affordable Housing Property Operations Specialist , you’ll be the bridge between the corporate office and on-site teams. Focusing on keeping operations running seamlessly, ensuring compliance is met, and supporting the on-site staff. You will work closely with our Portfolio Manager and the VP of Property Management to:

  • Drive Financial Performance — reviewing budgets, monitoring delinquencies, and coordinating with the legal team as needed. Review monthly reports, including variance reports, to ensure we are on track.
  • Safeguard HUD and LIHTC compliance standards with precision, accuracy, and ensure reports and documentation are submitted timely.
  • Partner with government agencies, owners, and vendors to streamline communication and maintain high operational standards.
  • Empowering teams by supporting property managers, providing training, assisting with different tasks, and system oversight (Yardi, RealPage, or similar).
  • Lead innovation by spearheading special projects and focusing on improvements that raise the bar for efficiency and consistency throughout our management company.

In short, you’ll use your on-site experience to help shape and strengthen the big picture.

Who You Are

  • 3–5 years of multifamily property management or real estate experience, ideally with an affordable housing focus.
  • Deep understanding of HUD and LIHTC programs and can navigate compliance requirements with confidence.
  • Highly organized, communicative, with a passion for problem-solving and helping others succeed.
  • Knowledge and enjoyment of using spreadsheets and systems, almost as much as you enjoy helping residents and staff.
  • Ready to transition from day-to-day site work into a broader operational leadership role but still want to stay connected to the heartbeat of affordable housing.

Preferred Skills & Extras

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and property management software (Yardi, RealPage, etc.).
  • COS and/or LIHTC certification is a plus.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree is a plus.
