Job Description

Description

Amazon is looking for an experienced Studio Operations Manager to supervise the Studio Operations team, in person, in a commercial photography studio environment. As the Studio Operations Manager, you oversee a team that handles the workflow of high volumes of products used for creative and marketing content between fulfillment center(s), the studio, and our external partners. You are responsible for short and long-term operational planning, including allocating labor, assigning job duties, and leading team meetings. You make plans to ensure capacity meets demand, creating contingency plans and reacting quickly to changing priorities based on product volume and needs. You set daily production goals and ensure resources are in place to meet targets, coordinating directly with multiple teams to ensure seamless planning for products required for content creation.

As a leader in the studio, you ensure standard operating procedures are followed, identify inefficiencies in workflows, and drive a culture of continuous improvement while motivating a team of people to deliver results. You provide assistance and guidance on inventory management, troubleshooting, and process implementation while collaborating with your peers to share best practices and deliver innovative process procedures that can scale at high volumes.

Key job responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management and direction of the Studio Operations team, including supervision, mentoring, training, development, and performance management
  • Follow and enforce all policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Handle team schedules, time off requests, and employee time cards
  • Participate in and lead staffing and workforce planning
  • Plan and oversee the flow of inventory through all stages of content workflows
  • Analyze and capture reporting on key productivity and quality metrics
  • Utilize reporting to deep dive data to redefine workflows that meet or exceed operational goals
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement
  • Build and maintain knowledge management tools such as wikis and shared drives
  • Manage end-to-end success of one-off, high-touch, or ambiguous requests
  • Mitigate immediate risks and decide if they can be handled or need to be escalated

About The Team

The Studio Operations inventory team is responsible for the handling, prepping, and overall inventory management of products used for site, marketing, influencer, and social content creation. We are committed to keeping customers front of mind, investing in our talent, maintaining a safe environment for teams, and using data and instinct to make quick decisions that are right for our customers and our brand.

Basic Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and influencing colleagues, collaborators, and stakeholders
  • Experience leading process improvements
  • Can work proactively and independently, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects and tasks
  • Experience working and contributing to project playbooks, building schedules, managing issues/risks, establishing communication plans and stakeholder management
  • Experience in a customer-focused field or business
  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of equivalent work experience in a high production operations environment, preferably in the retail industry with an emphasis on designer fashion products
  • Leadership skills necessary for hiring employees, resolving conflicts, and keeping employees on task and motivated
  • Can quickly learn a range of proprietary systems
  • Clear and concise in verbal and written communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using data, reporting, or tools to measure performance and make adjustments accordingly
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities
  • An awareness and interest in the Shopbop brand, the content we produce, and the brands we carry
  • Previous experience in a photo studio or other fashion-based operations environment
